SOCIAL MEDIA | BRAND STRATEGY | GRAPHICS
I took an unconventional route to the world of mass communications and journalism, starting out first in design school. While I really enjoyed the creativity and power that strong graphics could create, I was also extremely interested in analyzing how audiences were engaging with content.
How could we make content that educated while still being engaging?
How could we get people who were turned away by news organizations and media to feel involved in the media they consumed? My passions lie with figuring these very questions out, as well as how to better use our evolving digital platforms to serve our audiences rather than isolate them.
experience & skills i can bring:
Whether it's logos, page layouts, social media posts, promotional images or even video, I have experience creating all sorts of mediums and brand collateral. I have made infographics for both hard newsrooms and investigative stories as well as creative graphics for arts centers and layouts for local brands and clients.
Under PBS, I gained experience with the digital side of reporting and copywriting end editing. I brainstormed and worked closely with reporters to find the best multimedia piece to accompany their stories, such as an explainer video for the Mueller investigations or an infographic for Arizona highway safety numbers, snapping photos on location and assisting with production needs for our daily broadcast.
At USA Today under the Brand and Network Marketing team, I dove deep into large-scale media campaigns. Situated next to the digital acquisition team, the BNM team looks to drive audience engagement and subscription rates not only to USA Today, but also its 100+ local properties across the country. How? Through campaign research, landscape assessments and succinct copywriting. Figuring out not only the where behind strategic communications, but also the why. Projects included:

I got to work first hand with Ticketmaster One and TMMessenger while at the Chandler Center for the Arts, utilizing design and layout skills to best serve over 41,000 clients on our email subscription service and promote artist promotional pages. With InDesign and Photoshop, I have made social media posts and graphics for The Chic Daily, a boutique fashion journalism site in Arizona, as well as utilized html page coding and Wordpress to set up and design our web page.
